Encaustics
The Encaustic process is one of the oldest art processes dating back to the ancient Greeks. For this series several layers of encaustic medium (wax and damar resin) were applied to a sealed wood panel. Images, printed on thin rice paper, were embedded in the wax and then more layers of wax were layered over the image. Often various tools are used to add texture to the piece.
